?In the summer, how can you keep your cat cool

In the summer, how can you keep your cat cool?
We may be enjoying the warm weather, but our feline companions may be sweating. Check out our summertime ideas for keeping your cat cool, happy, and healthy.
Cats don't have the same ability to stay cool as humans. Although cats are native to the desert, they used to stay out of trouble by sleeping in the shade during the day and hunting and being active at dawn and night. They can only sweat through their paw pads and pant like dogs only when it's extremely hot. We've also bred certain cats with thicker coats, making it more difficult for them to stay cool. Which cats feel the heat?
Any cat can be affected by the heat, thus all cat owners should be aware of the signs of overheating and heatstroke. Panting and dribbling are two common symptoms.
• Having difficulty standing up.
Some cats will have a harder time coping with the heat than others. During the summer, these cats may require a little additional attention to ensure their comfort.
• Breeds with a flat face. Because of the additional tissues in the back of their throat, cat breeds with small noses, such as Persian or British Shorthairs, may have difficulties breathing. In warmer weather, breathing issues might become much worse. • Fluffy cats. • Cats that are old• Cats who are elderly or have medical problems.er or have health issues. These cats are more sensitive to heat and are more likely to suffer from major illnesses such as heatstroke. It may be safer to keep sick cats inside the house so that they are not overwhelmed by the heat outside and are unable to find a more comfortable place.
• Cats that are overweight. Carrying excess weight puts extra strain on your cat's body. This may make it more difficult for them to handle the heat.
Getting out and about
It can be difficult to keep your cat cool if they enjoy exploring, but you can make your garden a shady sanctuary on hot summer days by doing the following:
• Provide shade. Garden-loving cats will appreciate the natural shade provided by trees and vegetation. You can also create a shady area by hanging a sheet or blanket.
• Drinks from the garden. When your cat is in the garden, make sure they have access to fresh, clean water.
• Early mornings and late evenings. Allow your cat to go outside in the morning and evening when the temperature is cooler. During the hottest portion of the day, try to keep them inside.
• Protection against the sun. Sun protection is especially important for cats with white or thin fur, so stock up on pet-safe sunscreen.
Throughout the house
If your cat prefers to lounge about the house on hot days, here's how to keep them cool:

• Drink plenty of water Place a few water bowls throughout the home so your cat doesn't have to travel far to get a drink. If you have multiple cats, this is especially crucial because they don't appreciate sharing bowls.
• Stay away from hot rooms. Keep your cat away from rooms that can get quite hot, such as conservatories. In automobiles and trailers, cats can quickly overheat.
• Create a cool environment. Encourage them to relax in a comfortable, cool location of the house. Make the area inviting by providing places to rest: if it's really hot, some ceramic tiles could serve as a lovely location to relax and cool off. Provide your cat with a few nutritious snacks to help them link the place with something special.
• Leave the windows open. Cats are naturally curious, and the cool breeze from an open window will entice them. Put mesh or netting over your windows to prevent your cat from having a catastrophic accident. If your cat does fall, make an appointment with your veterinarian right away.
Grooming for long-haired cats in the summer
Long-haired cats are more likely to overheat in the summer, which is understandable given their extra fluff.
A healthy grooming practice is vital all year, but it might be especially beneficial in the summer. A daily brush will assist in the removal of any superfluous fur as well as any bothersome knots.
Some cats may benefit from a summer trim to help them stay cool. It's usually preferable to have them groomed by a professional.
The best ways to keep cats cool in the heat
• Ice cubes can keep us cool, but they can also keep your cat cool while encouraging them to play. Place a few ice cubes on a hard floor and watch your cat bat them around.
• Always make sure your cat has plenty of shady places to go, both indoors and out.
• Place water bowls throughout your home and outside so that your cat has access to water at all times.
• Place an ice pack or frozen water bottle wrapped in a blanket in one of their beds or a sleeping place so they may rely on something cool.
• Play with them early in the morning and late in the evening when the weather is cooler, so they are less likely to run around during the hotter hours of the day.
